It's always difficult to write something in this part of the website. Too much, and you sound full of yourself. Too little, and you sound like you don't know what you are doing.
But I do know this...I truly love being a counselor. I love talking to people and helping them clear decades of blocks to becoming the best person you can become. I spend most of my free time learning more techniques to becoming a better therapist and bringing those skills into the room with my clients.
Life is not perfect and healing is not linear. But we can work together to make it as good as possible. I look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Marie Whelan is a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and is supervised by Kira Monterrey. Marie takes a holistic and collaborative approach to treatment, that emphasizes creating a safe, non-judgmental, and trusting therapeutic relationship to allow for client self-exploration, authenticity, and achievement.
On a personal note, Marie has experienced marriage, divorce, dating, raising and launching children from the nest, life-threatening illness, loved ones’ addictions, grief and loss, and she draws from her education and training as well as from her life experience to offer empathy and connection with her clients along their therapeutic journeys.
Marie found her counseling calling in helping others reclaim their power after adversity and discover their true, authentic life. Together we can clear blocks to becoming fully you that has been lost and buried. We will process anger, frustration, resentment, anxiety, depression, stress, apathy, fear, that manifest to become problems in relationships, sexuality, communication, and work problems.
